I finally found the time to watch About Time, a movie that had been on my watchlist for about two years. After purchasing it on Shopee for a mere $1.20 USD, I sat down with eager anticipation, ready to be whisked away on a time-traveling adventure. While the romantic relationship depicted in the movie left me feeling somewhat uneasy, the overarching themes of family, love, and appreciating life’s simple pleasures resonated deeply with me.

For those who haven’t seen the film, About Time follows the life of Tim Lake, a young man who discovers that the men in his family have the ability to time travel within their own lives. He uses this ability to manipulate situations, particularly in his romantic pursuits, which ultimately leads to his marriage. However, as the film progresses, Tim’s focus shifts towards his relationship with his family and the importance of living in the present moment.

While I found the manipulation in Tim’s romantic relationship unsettling, the dynamic between Tim and his parents left a lasting impression on me. Tim’s father, upon learning of his terminal illness, chooses to retire early and spend his remaining days playing table tennis with his son and savoring afternoon tea…
