I believe in creating a world fueled by compassion, empathy, and the power of personal growth. These beliefs have been shaped by my experiences, from the lessons taught by my family and friends to the challenges I’ve faced in love and loss. As I reflect on these values, I find strength in my faith, determination, and the hope of a brighter future.

  1. I believe in kindness, even — or especially — in the midst of unkind people, situations, or things.

2. I believe in empathy, and that though we cannot completely understand others, we should work hard to try.

3. I believe in God, though I do not attend church or synagogue. I have found peace in my faith.

4. I believe in doing our best and trying to excel, as the Japanese proverb says.

5. I believe that determination and grace allow us to weather stormy seas.

6. I believe in the laughter of my future adopted children, knowing they will grow up happy, wanted, and loved.

7. I believe that even in a world on fire, we can pursue peace, starting with our homes and loved ones.

8. I believe that people are people; it is not about labels, but about caring for those we love.
